This theoretical-practical dissertation, presented to the Faculty of Fine Arts of the
University of Lisbon, had, as proposal, the development of a touristic accommodation for the Torre de Palma Wine Hotel, located at Monforte, Alto Alentejo, Portugal. The model of touristic housing presented here intends to cover the need of increasing the number of rooms available for reservation and booking at the hotel. The concept of prefabricated construction proposed, fits well with the preexisting touristic model - countryside tourism, beyond providing the advantages of its reduced cost, sustainability of materials and manufacturing processes, as well as the advantage of fast construction and implementation, when compared to more traditional construction models. The practical execution of the project was built on a theoretical basis and background, with the objective of not only to consolidate the technical aspects of this type of construction, but also to recontextualize and update the fundamentals of the concept of prefabricated housing, via analysis of the main references and events, that have boosted the use of pre-fabricated housing solutions through time. Regarding the theoretical contextualization, the site selected for the implementation of the project is also studied, in what concerns the area available for construction, along with the reconversion to housing tourism of the Torre de Palma Wine Hotel, and of the Alentejo area itself. The housing model proposed here not only responds to the need of expanding the accommodation area, but also adds value to the enterprise, such as the appropriation and optimization of space resources and bonding to nature elements, also answering to environmental and eco-sustainable demands. The proposal of living in a prefabricated house also offers guests a unique and distinctive accommodation experience, away from the more common brick-built housing spread worldwide
