Abstract(s)
Para o trabalho teve-se como objeto de estudo a cidade de São Tomé e Príncipe. O local de intervenção trata-se de um bairro relativamente perto do centro da capital, onde a malha urbana apresenta um tecido maioritariamente informal. Por a proposta de projeto ser uma Faculdade de Medicina, com uma vertente de investigação, optou-se por o propor nas proximidades do hospital, de modo a garantir uma ligação direta entre o hospital e a faculdade. A estratégia de projeto passou pela organização e agregação do bairro no qual se inserirá o projeto (Bairro do Hospital).
O plano urbano da proposta passa por valorizar os espaços públicos e urbanos, definindo percursos pedonais assim como para os automóveis, respeitando a escala do bairro. De modo a responder às questões do território, optou-se por um equipamento com algumas vertentes e componentes sociais que servisse como espaço de referência do bairro, e que promovesse uma relação entre o bairro e o mar.
Mais do que a agregação de uma comunidade, pretendeu-se responder a algumas questões como a potencialização económica, social e urbana associada ao equipamento. A forma como o equipamento (Faculdade de Medicina) abraça a envolvente, valorizando um sistema de sustentabilidade, dá-lhe um caracter comunitário.
ABSTRACT: The city of São Tomé and Príncipe was the object of study. The place of intervention is a neighborhood relatively close to the center of the capital, where the urban fabric presents a mostly informal fabric. Because the project proposal is a medical school, with a research component, it was decided to propose it in the vicinity of the hospital, in order to guarantee a direct connection between the hospital and the college. The project strategy involved the organization and aggregation of the neighborhood in which the project will be inserted (Bairro do Hospital). The urban plan of the proposal is to value public and urban spaces, defining pedestrian routes as well as automobiles, respecting the scale of the neighborhood. In order to answer the questions of the territory, we opted for an equipment with some slopes and social components that served as reference space of the neighborhood, and that promoted a relationship between the neighborhood and the sea. More than the aggregation of a community, it was intended to answer some questions such as the economic, social and urban potential associated with the equipment. The way the equipment (Medical School) embraces the surroundings, valuing a sustainability system, gives it a community character.
