- The importance of lakes for bat conservation in Amazonian rainforests: an assessment using autonomous recordersPublication . Torrent, Laura; López-Baucells, Adrià; Rocha, Ricardo; Bobrowiec, Paulo E. D.; Meyer, Christoph F. J.Recent studies predict a future decrease in precipitation across the tropics, particularly the Amazon, likely causing significant droughts that have negative consequences for Amazonian freshwater biomes, especially lakes. Furthermore, immediate consequences of global warming for terrestrial fauna associated with tropical lakes are poorly understood as the vast majority of studies come from temperate regions. Here, we assess the seasonal importance of lakes for the conservation of aerial insectivorous bats in the Central Amazon using passive bat recorders. We compared richness, general bat activity and foraging activity between lakes and adjacent forest. Of a total of 21 species/sonotypes recorded in both habitats, all were detected over lakes, and 18 were significantly more active over lakes than in forest. Only two species had significantly higher activity levels in the forest than at the lakes. Species richness and general bat activity over the lakes were higher in the dry than in the rainy season. Foraging activity was also greater over the lakes than within the forest in both seasons. Moreover, both variables were positively correlated with lake size, although the effect on activity was species-specific. Climate change-driven shrinking of lakes may have detrimental consequences for aerial insectivorous bats, especially for the most water-dependent species. Compared to permanent water bodies of other regions, the value of tropical lakes for functionally important taxa, such as bats, has been understudied. Higher bat activity levels over lakes than in forest in both seasons and comprising the whole ensemble of aerial insectivorous bats of the study region, indicate that lakes embedded in Amazonian terra firme forests deserve special attention for future bat conservation.

- Multi-specialization: The concept, motivations and impact on individualsPublication . Carvalho, Rui Miguel Dias; da Palma, Patricia JardimWe present the concept of multi-specialization for those building careers, which refers to workers becoming very familiar with two or three fields of knowledge. This requires a compromise between individual capacity and individual learning needs and also means that workers will need tomaintain or achieve higher levels of productivity, ensuring or enhancing social welfare. Taking into account the differences between this concept and the traditional concepts of single-field specialization, we were able to uncover and highlight several positive possible results that many workers expect to experience when adopting this work perspective and, at the same time, to hear their concerns. A questionnaire and a set of interviews allow us to understand the individual experiences of those studied in this context.
Zagalo, NelsonIn this article we discuss the emergence of the domain of narrative design in the development of video games, we define the concept departing from the domain of experience design in Human-Computer Interaction and propose a model for the creative approach to the production of narrative in the video games that it intends to give support to narrative designers. The model is based on a tripartite approach, with three vectors — structure, characters and setting — being the structure worked in four layers: linear, branched, modular and branched modular.
- A Ludectrofobia dos críticos de artePublication . Gouveia, João Ricardo Faria deThe following work explores the relationship of art critics with video games through the analysis of interviews, manifestoes, reviews, and critiques. It is our aim to put in evidence the uneasiness of the art critic to talk about videogames, what we have called “ludectrophobia”. The prevailing critical silence calls attention to the position of videogames in the art world and simultaneously serves as a launching platform in tracing a critical argumentation of videogames based on manifestos and thesis that we found on the theme.

- Esthétique du jeu vidéo: l’art de la régressionPublication . Krajewski, PascalWe propose to “to do as if” video game was an art and to think of what is at play in its reception. Our hypothesis will be : the video games' pleasure is a conscious regressive pleasure, intensifying by the awareness of our becoming- a-child and the excessive and transgressive way of doing so. The player re-becomes a dreaming child, whose playful spirit would give birth to a whole fantasy triggered by the real. That is the point where psychoanalysts (Freud and Winnicott) identifies the germs of creation and creativity, when is expressing the same « omnipotence of thoughts » that art activates at an adult stage. The video games' experience would ally a double pleasure : an interactive spectacle (a neo-aesthetic) and a creative impulse (a proto-poïétic). Yet, is such a regressive way of reaching infantile creative stages enough to make it an art?
- No centro da periferia. Os independentes do modernismo portuguêsPublication . Reis, LeonorThis paper seeks to address the origins and trajectory of the so-called independents of Portuguese Modernism on which it aims to shed new light by establishing a direct connection between the Grupo dos Artistas Independentes born in Ma- deira in 1918, and the Independents’ movement which made itself known to Lisbon audiences and critics with the 1923 exhibition at Sociedade Nacional das Belas-Artes. We base our argument on the journey of the three Madeiran artists, Francisco Franco, Henrique Franco and Alfredo Miguéis, from their studies as bursary holders in Paris, to their intellectual gatherin- gs at the Golden Gate in Funchal, to their participation in the 1st Exhibition of Modern Painting and Sculpture of Funchal in 1922. Neglected by Portuguese art historiography this unprecedented although isolated exhibition which was the prelude to the Cinco Independentes exhibition the following year, is a key element of this study.
