A guerra na Síria causou muitos danos quer físicos como sociais. Perante este cenário de destruição, pretende-se propor um projeto que traga paz e oportunidades para o futuro.
Alepo é uma cidade histórica onde as tradições sempre tiveram um papel importante na cultura local. De tal forma, ao pensar na reconstrução após a guerra é fundamental pensar num futuro que preserve o valor do passado. A cidadela, que é património da UNESCO, deve ser conservada, assim como os locais importantes para a cultura síria, como os souks e os khans. No entanto, também deve haver um pensamento direcionado ao futuro, onde haja inovação de forma a ser possível criar progresso e imaginar um futuro próspero. Assim, relacionar o passado e o futuro, a tradição e a inovação, surge como uma solução para aumentar a qualidade de vida dos cidadãos sem que estes percam os seus hábitos culturais e permitindo que a cidade ganhe mais valor sem perder a sua identidade. Sendo que, o projeto é pensado para ser realizado assim que houver condições para tal e poder ajudar na reconstrução secundária da cidade até 2080.
A escola Aleppo School of Arts procura materializar a união entre os habitantes de todos os grupos étnicos ou religiosos a partir de algo comum que são os ofícios tradicionais de Alepo. Onde hoje existe uma cratera de uma bomba, existirá um anfiteatro que é o coração da escola, onde a memória negativa da guerra será transformada num local de união e encontro.
O hub-criativo representa a esperança e oferece a oportunidade dos alunos entraram no mundo laboral numa zona da cidade apreciada quer por locais quer por turistas. Ao juntar o passado e o futuro, a tradição e a inovação, cria-se a possibilidade de revalorizar os produtos e costumes locais quer a nível nacional como internacional.
The war in Syria caused many damages both physically and socially. Facing this scene of destruction, this project aims to bring peace and opportunities in the future. Aleppo is an ancient city where traditions play an important role in the local culture. Having that in mind, when thinking about the after-war reconstruction is essential to think of a future that preserves and adds value to the past. The citadel, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, must be preserved as well as the important places for the sirian culture such as the souks and khans. However, it must also exist an oriented thought towards the future, where there is innovation in order to thrive and imagine a prosper future. Therefore, relating the past with the future, the tradition with innovation appears as the solution to improve the life quality of citizens without making them loose their cultural habitudes and adding value to the city without losing its identity. The project is tought to be constructed as soon as the city has the minimal conditons to do so in order to contribute for the secondary reconstruction it till 2080. The Aleppo School of Arts intents to materialize the union between peoples of different ethnical or religious backgrounds by bringing them together with something in common, which is the traditional arts crafts business activity. Where once there was a crater of a bomb, there will be an amphitheater, which is the heart of the school, where the devastating memory of the war will be transformed into a place of union and gathering. Across the street, the creative hub represents the hope and gives students the opportunity to enter in the working world in an important part of the city for both locals and tourists. Linking the pass with the future, the tradition with innovation, makes it possible to revalue the local products and practices nationally and internationally.
