Em Sintra, as quintas sempre tiveram uma presença constante, desde o aparecimento da primeira no seculo XVI até aos nossos dias, apesar do estado de abandono em que algumas se encontram. Estas apresentam invariavelmente uma organização similar entre si, com programas organizacionais e de produção (alimentar) idênticos, e surgiram essencialmente pelo mesmo motivo: a procura pela nobreza de locais relativamente próximos da moradia principal, para servirem como quinta de produção e espaço de lazer.
Em Reabilitação da Quinta da Ribafria é desenvolvido um discurso diferente do já traçado no que toca ao tipo de intuito para estas quintas. Pretende-se divergir das intervenções de recuperação que habitualmente ocorrem, oferecendo este espaço à comunidade, de modo a poder ser experienciado por todos.
O projeto desenvolve-se assim em torno da Quinta da Ribafria, respeitando a sua história à medida que se constrói o melhor aproveitamento possível de um espaço que ficou esquecido no tempo, concedendo-lhe novas utilizações e tornando-o mais apelativo para a sociedade (atual) onde se integra.
In Sintra, farms have always had a constant presence, since the appearance of the first one in the XVI century until our current time, despite the state of abandonment in which some are. Those invariably present a similar organization between them, with identical programs, and essentially emerged due to the same motive: the nobility’s quest for places relatively near their main house, to serve as a production farm and a leisure area. In Rehabilitation of the Quinta da Ribafria there’s the development of a different address/discourse of what has been traced in what regards the type of purpose for these farms. It’s intended a diversion from the recovery interventions that usually occur, given instead this space to the community, so it can be experienced by all. The project is thus developed in turn of Quinta da Ribafria, respecting its history while building the best exploitation possible of a space that was lost in time, granting it with new uses and rendering it more appealing for the society it’s integrated in.
