This work presents a structure for a multimedia portable guide. This device, adaptable to a mobile interface, intends to deliver, in a non-intrusive way, contents leading to the fruition of art objects, in a Museum context. Planned for a painting exhibited in the Museu Nacional da Arte Antiga, Lisbon, Portugal, it can however be adapted to any other art object. Based on the theories of some authors like Harry Broudy, Mihaly Csikszentmialy, Bjarn Funch and on the Model of Aesthetic Understanding as Informed Experience, by Richard Lachapelle, Deborah Murray and Sandy Neim, the sensorial, cognitive and communication dimension are emphasised, vis-à-vis the art objects in a Museum context. The models DiGIT (Digital Interactive Gallery Teaching), from the Dulwich Picture Gallery, and the TMMT (Tate MultiMedia Tour) from Tate Modern, both in London, UK, are the basis of the building-up of a structure for a PDA multimedia application, adaptable to the Portuguese environment
