In a valley of infrastructure, hidden from view by the most attentive, a building has lost its identity, its presence in space. The analysis of what is identity and the decay of humanized and natural space, the consequences of human intervention and the loss of nature aims to be one of the themes of everyday life. In order to understand how the building adapts to time, the theoretical part intends to have a perception about the useful life of the built and urbanized space, with the most diverse causes for the decay of the same, to understand what leads to the enhancement of the building or detachment, cultural issues and functional flexibility. The design part of this work focuses on the case of Vale de AlcĂąntara, in Lisbon, specifically a building where Companhia Lisboense de Estamparia e Tinturaria de AlgodĂ”es was located, being the only factory building that remained in that area and that although it did not have been destroyed, it âdisappearedâ in the midst of constructions and road infrastructures, as a result of the severity of the weather, as it is the building with the highest concentration of work.
