Nesta dissertação far-se-á a caracterização organizacional de urn centro de investigação que opera sob o controlo administrativo da universidade, passando em revista alguma das actividades da gestão corrente do centro.
A importância estratégica das actividades de I&D desenvolvidas nas universidades exige que haja gestores qualificados nestas áreas e estudos que espelhem e perspctivem esta realidade.
É sabido que nao se dispõe de urn formato de organização ideal, que a partida garanta o sucesso das actividades de I&D, mas sabe-se que a produção científica e tecnológica é o resultado de uma actividade profissional, que necessita de ser enqundrada de modo pleno na institui ao que a acolhe como uma das condições para o alcançar da eficácia organizacional. Para tanto o cientista e tecnólogo necessita de conhecer melhor a sua instituição, o CITIA/DI.
Para enquadrar a caracterização organizacional de CITIA/DI procede-se a descrição da evolução histórica do sistema educativo, analisando as funções e irnportância da universidade no sistema científico e tecnológico, referindo a irnportância dos recursos humanos no contexto da ciência e tecnologia, concluindo com uma análise a actividade de gestão de ciência e tecnologia.
In this essay, I will present the organizational caracterization of an investigation centre, which operates under the University's administrative control, also reviewing some of the centre's current management activities. The strategic importance of the R&D activities developed in the universities demands the existance of qualified managers in these areas and of studies that reflect and put in perspective this reality. It's common knowledge that it does not exist an ideal organizational fom1at, which can garantee the success of R&D activities. Nevertheless, it is also known that the scientific and technological production is the result of a professional activity, that needs to be fully fit in the host institution. This is considered one of the essential conditions to achieve organizational efficiency. For that, both scientists and technologists need to acquire a better knowledge of their institution, CITIA!DI. To frame the CITIAIDI's organizational cara terizatio11, I will describe the historical evolution of the educational system, analysing the functions and importance of the university in the scientific and technological system. I will also point out the importance of human resources in the context of science and technology, concluding with an analysis on scientific and technological management.
