This report was carried out as part of the curricular internship in the Training and Education Master's Degree, in the field of Social and Cultural Development. This work is associated with the project CONVERCIDADE - Convergência na Diversidade. Participation of children in the city. My curricular intership was developed in a home for Children and Youth, at Casa dos Búzios, "A Hera" Institution and lasted for nine months. My intervention was based on support functions to the technical staff and educators; the performance of these tasks centered in personalized follow-up in the various areas of health, education, family and social environment of institutionalized children and youth. Later, I collaborated on existing projects such as the study room and the assemblies of the youth. This initial phase allowed me to understand the operation of Casa dos Búzios, in compliance with the stipulated schedule of tasks that should be performed daily with children and young people. I decided to participate in games and leisure activities. This was a way of creating new dynamics and affective bonds, making it easier to carry out the suggested activities without resistance and bringing out the children’s interest and involvement. The pedagogical activities developed with institutionalized children and young people were conceived to stimulate creativity, imagination and artistic expression. There were some difficulties in the field of human relations, mainly some conflicts resulting from the interaction between children and young people. Thus, other aims were learning a positive approach to conflict, namely through dialogue and mediation and learning emotional self-awareness and self-regulation, through several games that improved self-appreciation, self-esteem and confidence. In brief, the developed pedagogical activities and games were carried out in a non-formal context, exploring active participation, encouraging emotional balance and also personal and social development of institutionalized children and youth.
