O Museu da Cidade de Lisboa é o objecto de estudo e de intervenção, no presente trabalho, enquanto oportunidade de projecto que concilia, pensar o edifício público cultural e o tema do museu associado à problemática do crescimento do espólio, com uma reflexão sobre os valores patrimoniais da preexistência, estando implícita uma atitude crítica sobre o processo de reabilitação a que o palácio foi sujeito no passado. Assim, a ampliação procura resolver as lacunas programáticas existentes no núcleo museológico, simultaneamente articuladas com a necessidade de uma reestruturação dos usos do edifício antigo.
The present work is focused on the study and on the intervention of the Museum of the City of Lisbon. The purpose of this project consists on how to conciliate the whole concept of a cultural public building along with the museum.s estate growth issue, reflecting its preexisting patrimonial values, and by implying a critical attitude towards the palace.s rehabilitation process that took place in the past. Therefore, the proposed palace expansion aims to solve the museum.s existing problematic gaps along with the necessity of restructuring the old part of the building.
