O potencial de Patrick Hughes como recurso didático no ensino das artes visuais

O projeto pedagógico – implementado na disciplina de Educação Visual, nas turmas A e B do 9.º ano do Ensino Básico, no Colégio Valsassina (2021/2022), no contexto da Prática de Ensino Supervisionada do Mestrado de Ensino em Artes Visuais do 3.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e Ensino Secundário, da Universidade de Lisboa – estuda, estrutura e valida o potencial de Patrick Hughes como recurso didático para o ensino das Artes Visuais. O sistema reverspective, criado por Hughes, ofereceu uma resposta holística às condicionantes e preocupações sentidas no contexto educativo do colégio: • renovar e fortalecer o interesse pela disciplina, através de um projeto inovador e adaptado aos tempos desafiantes em que vivemos; • lecionar os conteúdos curriculares (a ilusão de ótica e a perspetiva cónica) promovendo o desenvolvimento global dos alunos, de acordo com as diretrizes internas e externas da disciplina de Educação Visual; • despertar, nos alunos, uma consciência crítica, capaz de questionar os fenómenos da perceção visual e compreender o poder da imagem. O relatório é composto por uma componente teórica, que fundamenta o projeto pedagógico e o enquadra nos diferentes contextos (geográfico, teórico, legislativo e curricular), e uma componente prática de ação educativa reflexiva, que valida o potencial educativo e formativo das reverspective de Hughes. Este potencial revelou-se, não só no desenvolvimento dos saberes estéticos e técnicos, das competências de raciocínio e de resolução de problemas, de pensamento crítico e criativo, na promoção da autonomia e do relacionamento interpessoal, mas também na fascinante e poderosa experiência visual, que oferece enquanto objeto artístico imersivo, capaz de surpreender, cativar e motivar os alunos para a construção ativa das suas aprendizagens.
The pedagogical project, entitled the potential of Patrick Hughes as a Visual Art’s teaching resource, was developed in the context of supervised teaching practice of the Master’s Degree in Visual Arts Teaching, provided by the University of Lisbon, and implemented in two year 9 Art classes, at private school Colégio Valsassina (2021/2022). The project aimed to study, structure and validate the reverspective system, created by visual artist Patrick Hughes, as an Art teaching resource – in the interest of answering the imposed terms and personal concerns felt in the school’s educational context, which consisted in: • the urgency to renew and strengthen interest in the Art subject, through a well-adapted and innovative project, capable of standing out in the challenging times we live in; • the need to teach pre-determined curricular contents (optical illusions and linear perspective), while promoting the overall development of students, in accordance to the Visual Art’s Portuguese Educational Law and the school guidelines; • the urge to awake, in students, a critical awareness towards the power of the image and the bias of visual perception. This report is composed by two components: the theoretical chapters that justify the pedagogical project framed in different contexts (geographical, theoretical, legislative and curricular) and the practical chapter that reflects on the pedagogical action. This reflection validates the educational and formative potential of Hughes's reverspective. It was revealed not only in the development of technical and aesthetic knowledge, critical and creative thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills, autonomy and interpersonal relationships but also in the powerful and fascinating reverspective’s visual experience, that is capable of surprising, captivating and motivating students to actively pursue and construct their learning.
