O Bairro da Fraternidade, localizado na cidade da Guarda, faz parte do conjunto de bairros construídos pelo Fundo de Fomento da Habitação por todo o país, no final da década de 1970. Neste momento encontra-se à margem da cidade e de qualquer outro aglomerado populacional na sua proximidade, transformando-se assim num local de segregação social e estrutural.
Dada a localização central e a proximidade com equipamentos fulcrais para a cidade da Guarda, o presente Projeto Final de Mestrado, procura o entendimento da casa e da cidade como um instrumento de integração social, concretizada com uma postura de respeito pela identidade cultural dos habitantes. O vínculo entre o habitante e o território apresenta-se como mote de desenvolvimento do projeto urbano e arquitetónico, estimulando a dimensão humana da arquitetura que visa despertar o sentimento de integração e participação comunitária que atualmente, não se verifica no local.
Num primeiro momento, foi estudada a cidade enquanto organismo sempre em movimento, para seguidamente focalizar a análise da experiência do módulo habitacional. Nessa escala, é proposto um programa baseado em sistemas de construção simples que permitem a evolução da habitação a par e passo com a evolução dos seus habitantes.
Bairro da Fraternidade, located in the city of Guarda, is part of the set of neighborhoods built by Fundo de Fomento da Habitação (Housing Promotion Fund) throughout the country, in the late 1970s. At this moment it is not integrated in the general composition of the city and of any other population cluster in its proximity, therefore it’s becoming a place of social and structural segregation. Given the central location and proximity to key facilities for the city of Guarda, this Master's Final Project seeks to understand the house and the city as an instrument of social integration, implemented with a posture of respect for the cultural identity of the inhabitants. The link between the inhabitant and the territory presents itself as a motto for the development of the urban and architectural project, stimulating the human dimension of architecture that aims to awaken the feeling of integration and community participation that currently does not exist in the place. At first, the city was studied as an organism always in motion to then focus on analyzing the experience of the housing module, with a program based on simple construction systems that allow housing to evolve hand in hand with the evolution of its inhabitants.
