Neste trabalho apresenta-se uma proposta de musealização do acervo de uma Instituição praticamente centenária - o Orfeão Universitário do Porto - localizada no coração histórico da cidade e dos seus estudantes universitários. A pesquisa baseia-se na história oral e escrita administrativa da instituição. Para o efeito foram recolhidos os testemunhos de antigos e actuais orfeonistas, amigos e familiares e, ainda, de alguns habitantes da cidade nortenha, que de certa forma cruzaram caminho com esta história. Reconstituíram-se os espaços, o percurso histórico-artístico e os seus intervenientes. Procedeu-se ao levantamento dos objectos ofertados à Instituição aquando as suas viagens, que ao longo de noventa e oito anos de fervorosa actividade conseguiu juntar uma belíssima colecção etnográfica e monográfica, e que se irá traduzir na elaboração do respectivo catálogo. Deste modo, objectiva-se a tomada de consciência e a salvaguarda de um património, uma identidade, uma escola, através da sua musealização, com a apresentação de um conteúdo expositivo. Um produto cultural, resultado de gerações passadas, perspectivando-se um equipamento social, vivo e dinâmico, preservado na sua função original, a produção de uma arte e a preservação e divulgação de uma cultura.
In this essay we present a proposal for musealization of the collection of a nearly century-old institution, the Orfeão Universitário do Porto, located in the historic heart of Porto and its students. The research is based on oral history and the administrative writing of the institution for this purpose were collected the testimonies of the ancients, the current elements, friends and family and some inhabitants of the northern city that somehow crossed paths with this story. Spatial premises, the art-historical path, and the ―actors‖ have been reconstituted. Proceeded to the lifting of objects offered to the institution during their journeys, an inventory was produced and compiled, that over ninety-eight years of fervent activity earned a stunning ethnographic collection and monograph, and which will lead to the elaboration of a catalogue. Thus, the objective is awareness and safeguarding a heritage, a patrimony, an identity, a school, through its musealization with the presentation of an exhibition content. A cultural product is exhibited as the result of past generations, looking ahead to a social service facilities, alive and dynamic, preserved in its original function, the production of an art and the preservation and dissemination of a culture.
