Abstract(s)
O ponto de partida desta investigaĆ§Ć£o estava associado Ć observaĆ§Ć£o direta da renda de bilros de Peniche e Ć constataĆ§Ć£o do seu declĆnio como atividade artesanal que, maioritariamente, Ć© realizada por mulheres como uma tradiĆ§Ć£o local. A questĆ£o que se coloca, conduz a uma reflexĆ£o sobre a inserĆ§Ć£o do design na procura de novas soluƧƵes para a sua funcionalidade e apreƧo. Recorre-se ao design como uma Ć”rea do conhecimento capaz de auxiliar e influenciar a criatividade e a inovaĆ§Ć£o mantendo a identidade visual da renda de bilros de Peniche.
Contudo, a preservaĆ§Ć£o do valor histĆ³rico, social e artĆstico da renda de bilros inserido como tradiĆ§Ć£o popular na cidade de Peniche, a importĆ¢ncia do trabalho das mulheres na realizaĆ§Ć£o da renda de bilros de Peniche sĆ£o valores a salvaguardar. Aliado ao tradicional Ć© objetivo primordial a investigaĆ§Ć£o de novos materiais que se consideram ser passĆveis de aplicar na execuĆ§Ć£o de peƧas recorrendo Ć tĆ©cnica da renda de bilros de Peniche. Analisando os ensaios realizados com esses novos materiais verificaram-se novas possibilidades de utilizaĆ§Ć£o da renda de bilros de Peniche aliadas Ć conceĆ§Ć£o dos objetos distintos do tradicional napron, objeto maioritariamente executado pelas rendilheiras de Peniche.
Esta investigaĆ§Ć£o permitiu explorar e desenvolver novas e distintas oportunidades de aplicaĆ§Ć£o/utilizaĆ§Ć£o da renda de bilros. Em particular a junĆ§Ć£o de duas tĆ©cnicas ancestrais: a tĆ©cnica da renda de bilros de Peniche executada com materiais distintos aliada Ć tĆ©cnica de fundiĆ§Ć£o do vidro. Esta fusĆ£o de materiais tĆ£o distintos resultou em peƧas de valor acrescentado, aliada Ć tĆ©cnica surgem peƧas Ćŗnicas com design de autor podendo ser simultaneamente decorativas e funcionais, resultado francamente positivo no Ć¢mbito da ressignificaĆ§Ć£o da Renda de Bilros de Peniche.
ABSTRACT: The starting point of this investigation was the direct observation of the bobbin lace of Peniche and the finding of its decline as an artisanal activity, mostly done by women as a local tradition. Our leading question aims to a reflection on the insertion of design in the quest of new solutions for its functionality use. Design is used as an area of knowledge able of assisting and influencing creativity and innovation while maintaining the visual identity of Peniche bobbin lace largely recognized by the inhabitants and by the local government of Peniche. However, the protection of the historical, social and artistic value of the bobbin lace, as a popular tradition in the city of Peniche, as well as the importance of the work of women in the crafting of bobbin lace of Peniche are values to uphold. We looked up for new materials that we believed could be used to create new pieces using the technique of the bobbin lace of Peniche. Analysing the experiments carried out with these new materials, we studied new possibilities of use, other than the traditional napron, an object mostly made by Peniche skilled craftswomen. These tests allowed the exploitation and developing of new and distinct opportunities for the usage of the bobbin lace. One opportunity in particular was the combination of two ancestral techniques: the Peniche bobbin lace technique executed allied to the glass casting technique. The fusion of such different materials resulted in unique handcrafted pieces, with authorās design signature, that can be both decorative and functional, a very positive result in the scope of the redefinition of the bobbin lace of Peniche.
