As Unidades Económicas para sobreviverem e fazerem face aos desafios da economia
global dependem cada vez mais de sistemas de informação fiáveis e flexíveis, baseados,
planeados, arquitectados e explorados em tecnologias de informação, instaladas e
exploradas como produtos resultantes de Projectos Informáticos.
O sucesso dos Projectos Informáticos é visto como uma estratégia determinante para o
posicionamento das empresas nos mercados, na perspectiva de oferecer produtos
informáticos de qualidade, em tempo útil e com os custos considerados adequados por
quem os oferece e por quem os consome.
O insucesso dos Projectos Informáticos está, na maioria dos casos, associado à forma
como são geridos. Para este insucesso contribui em grande escala a não percepção dos
responsáveis para as actividades que deverão ser objecto de maior cuidado e a não
relevância dada aos aspectos da qualidade no desenvolvimento dos processos e da
gestão do projecto.
Um melhor conhecimento sobre o 'Corpo de Conhecimentos na Gestão de Projectos
Informáticos' e uma maior consciencialização sobre as Normas de Qualidade a aplicar
nessas áreas, vão permitir uma melhor eficácia e eficiência na Gestão de Projectos
Informáticos e contribuir para o sucesso do produto final; quando associado a
instrumentos importantes como o Plano do Projecto, o Plano da Qualidade e o Plano
de Gestão da Configuração, entre outros.
In order to be able to face and survive the challenge of a global economy, the economic entities must rely on the support provided by the Information Systems. These systems are the outcome of Information Systems Projects which are planned and developed based on Information Technology techniques. The success of these projects is a key factor in the general strategy of the economic entities, since it is very important to count on information systems products, on time, on budget and with the adequate levei of quality. In most of the cases, the failure of Information Systems Projects, lies in the way that these projects are handled. Underestimation of the importance of key activities and the lack of quality assurance practices, are among the most common failures factors on these kind ofprojects. A better knowledge of the 'Information Systems Project Management Body of Knowledge' and more attention to the Quality Assurance Standards in combination with the traditional tools such as The Project Plan, The Quality Plan and The Configuration Management Plan, will ailow a more efficient and much more effective project management, which in tum will assure a more reliable final product: an Information System properly aligned with the economic entity business objectives.
