A casa é um dos temas centrais na disciplina de Arquitectura, na medida que habitar é uma questão central e intemporal à sociedade. Esta não pode ser encarada como um objecto finalizado, uma vez que se constata que a sociedade sofre alterações constantes- laborais, tecnológicas, sociais e familiares, tornando clara a necessidade de se alterar o paradigma habitacional.
Neste sentido, é imprescindível repensar a habitação procurando uma solução que responda da melhor maneira aos requisitos sociais actuais. São, então, introduzidos conceitos de flexibilidade, adaptabilidade e evolução, como estratégias para o desenho de uma casa que se ajuste a um habitar contemporâneo.
Marvila surge como cenário para a proposta, recuperando a memória de uma zona industrial com a reconversão de um antigo edifício fabril - a Tabaqueira - com vista a albergar um complexo habitacional colectivo. O seu antigo esqueleto desenha uma métrica estrutural muito própria, determinante no desenho dos módulos base, que, agregados, originam várias tipologias de fogos.
Partindo, assim, de um alinhamento entre o edifício existente, como gerador da regra basilar, que posteriormente se propõe a acolher os conceitos de adaptabilidade e evolução.
ABSTRACT: Dwelling is one of the core themes in the subject of Architecture, in the way that is a central and timeless question to society. This cannot be faced as a final object, since it is clear society suffers constant changes- in the labour, technological, social and familiar fields, making clear the necessity of changing the housing paradigm. In this sense, it is indispensable rethinking the dwelling, looking for a solution that better responds to the current social requirements. Therefore, concepts of flexibility, adaptability and evolution are introduced, as strategies for a housing design that fits to a contemporary dwell. Marvila appears as a scenery for the proposal, restoring the memory of an industrial area, with the rehabilitation of an old factory - a Tabaqueira - aiming to roost a collective housing complex. Its old skeleton draws a very particular structural metric, crucial in the drawing of the base modules, that putted together, create the different housing typologies. We shall start with an alignment between the pre-existing building, as a creator of the main key, that subsequently allows itself to welcome the concepts of adaptability and evolution.
