Os determinantes do endividamento dos clubes europeus de futebol

Este estudo pretende analisar os determinantes do endividamento dos clubes de futebol. Desta forma, foram analisados 54 clubes, oriundos de 7 países europeus, nomeadamente, Alemanha, Espanha, França, Holanda, Inglaterra, Itália e Portugal, entre as épocas desportivas de 2008/2009 e 2012/2013.
Os resultados sugerem que a tangibilidade dos ativos e a performance desportiva dos clubes de futebol estão positivamente associados ao seu nível de endividamento. Além disso, os resultados também sugerem que a rendibilidade, a dimensão e a intangibilidade dos ativos estão negativamente associados ao nível de endividamento dos clubes de futebol.
This study aims to analyze the determinants that explain the indebtedness of football clubs. Thus, we analyzed 54 clubs coming from 7 European countries, namely, Germany, Spain, France, Holland, England, Italy and Portugal, between sports seasons 2008/2009 and 2012/2013. The results suggest football clubs' asset tangibility and sporting performance are positively linked to its level of indebtedness. In addition, the results also suggest that profitability, size and asset intangibility are negatively linked with football clubs' level of indebtedness.
