Resumo(s)
O presente trabalho aborda os terrenos da Quinta da Arealva, localizada na margem sul do
Rio Tejo, no sopé do Cristo Rei, entre a encosta e o rio. A proposta visa a transformação do
complexo industrial vinícola, que outrora albergou uma fortificação militar e uma quinta de
recreio, tendo como principal objetivo a revitalização do lugar, respeitando a sua identidade
e memória. Neste sentido, a intervenção prevê a reabilitação arquitetónica de um edifício
secular ladeado por uma fortaleza do séc. XVIII, conferindo-lhe novos usos e programas
adaptados ao atual contexto geográfico, social e económico.
O terreno expectante que lida com a proximidade a Lisboa, ainda que desafogado da azáfama
citadina, disfruta da franca relação com o rio Tejo e com a natureza envolvente. Este foi o
ponto de partida para o desenvolvimento do novo programa considerando a forma como o
espaço foi vivido no passado e como potenciar o seu usufruto no futuro. Neste âmbito é
também incontornável abordar as teorias de reabilitação de Choay, Le Duc entre outros,
tendo assim optado por propor uma Pousada, que se apresenta como solução reveladora das
oportunidades e potenciais intrínsecos a este lugar.
A apropriação de uma identidade pré-existente, correspondente à época em que o terreno
fora uma Quinta de Veraneio, e a pontual demolição de construções aleatórias, resulta numa
intervenção, simultaneamente, respeitadora e consciente, que pretende devolver a clareza
do espaço e sobressair a imponência da fortaleza.
ABSTRACT: This work deals with the lands of Quinta da Arealva, located on the south bank of the Tejo River, at the base of Cristo Rei, between the slope and the river. The proposal aims to transform the current industrial wine complex, which once housed a military fortification and a leisure farm, with the main objective of revitalizing the land, while still respecting its identity and memory. In this sense, the intervention foresees the architectural rehabilitation of a secular building flanked by an 18th century fortress, bestowing it with new purposes and programmes adapted to the current geographical, social and economic context. The waiting terrain that deals with the proximity to Lisbon, even if unburdened by the city hustle and bustle, enjoys the clear relationship with the river Tejo and the surrounding nature. This was the starting point towards the development of a new programme that considers how the space was lived in the past and how to enhance its benefits in the future. In this context it is also essential to address the refurbishment theories of Choay, Le Duc among others, having thus chosen to suggest a Pousada, which presents itself as a revealing solution of the opportunities and potentials that are inherent to this place. The appropriation of a pre-existing identity, which corresponds to the time when the land was a summer farm, and the punctual demolition of random buildings, results in an intervention, which is both respectful and conscious, that aims to restore the clarity of the space and highlight the magnificence of the fortress.
