Neste Projecto Final de Mestrado, pretende-se estudar o passado, a memória e a identidade das Roças, preservando e reabilitando o seu património arquitectónico.
Após a análise de várias roças, seleccionou-se a Roça Água-Izé como objecto de estudo, devido à sua dimensão e importância histórica. Com este projecto pretende-se realizar uma proposta que responda às necessidades sentidas pela comunidade, sempre com a perspectiva de um crescimento gradual. A proposta teve como base os costumes e as tradições da população de modo a criar algo que se articulasse com o património pré-existente.
Deste modo, este projecto da reestruturação do tecido colonial com um novo plano urbano equipado com novos serviços para assegurarem uma melhor qualidade de vida para todas as pessoas desta comunidade.
ABSTRACT: The intention of this Master's Final Project, is to understand importance of the past, the memory and the identity of the “Roças”, preserving and rehabilitating their architectural heritage. After an analysis of several types of “Roças”, it was select the Água-Izé Roça as an object of study, because of its size and historical importance. This project aims to create and develop a new project that responds to the needs of the community, always with a perspective of gradual growth. The project was structured on the base of the costumes and traditions of the population in order to articulate with the pre-existing heritage. In this mode, the project consists in restructuring of the colonial fabric with a new urban plan equipped with new services to ensure a better quality of life for everyone in this community.
