| dc.description.abstract | O património arquitetónico, que se vincula intimamente à memória, apresenta diferentes perceções culturais. Abordando ambos os conceitos de um ponto de vista histórico-filosófico (dimensão social) e fenomenológico (dimensão individual, que ressalva a perceção e a experiência do tempo e espaço), apresentar-se-ão as respetivas perceções culturais do Ocidente e Oriente. Posteriormente, demonstrar-se-ão as influências e diferenças culturais entre as práticas de preservação do património arquitetónico, passando por um período em que tais práticas foram transculturais, remontando à natureza simbólica do homem primitivo, e como foram antagonizadas no choque cultural dos séculos XIX e XX, quando a tentativa de universalização das práticas imposta pelos princípios eurocêntricos pôs em causa questões de autenticidade. Num gesto conclusivo, conjugando a intuição religiosa oriental com a metafísica ocidental, procurar-se-á compreender a dimensão intangível inerente aos conceitos de memória e património. Esta incompreensão, patente na dialética existencialista entre a tradição e o moderno, reflete a instabilidade conceitual de património e o dilema espiritual do homem ocidental contemporâneo que, desfazendo-se com a tradição – com o passado onde reside a memória –, desfez-se com o sentido que o interpela a preservar o que lhe pertence – o seu património arquitetónico. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Architectural heritage, which is closely linked to memory, presents different cultural perceptions. Approaching both concepts from a historical-philosophical perspective (social dimension) and phenomenological perspective (individual dimension, which highlights the perception and experience of time and space), the respective cultural perceptions of the West and East will be presented. Subsequently, the cultural influences and differences between architectural heritage preservation practices will be demonstrated, going through a period in which such practices were transcultural, going back to the symbolic nature of primitive man, and how they were antagonized in the cultural shock of the 19th and 20th centuries, when the attempt to universalize practices imposed by eurocentric principles called authenticity issues into question. In a conclusive gesture, combining eastern religious intuition with eastern metaphysics, we will seek to understand the intangible dimension inherent to the concepts of memory and heritage. This lack of understanding, evident in the existentialist dialectic between tradition and the modern, reflects the conceptual instability of heritage and the spiritual dilemma of contemporary western man who, breaking away from tradition – away from the past where memory resides –, broke away with the sense that challenges him to preserve what belongs to him – his architectural heritage. | pt_PT |
