Resumo(s)
Este projecto final de mestrado (PFM), assenta na construção de um equipamento multifuncional
no contexto da arquitectura tropical, sustentável e pública, de carácter informal e formal, tendo em
conta as preocupações sociais, económicas e ambientais deste lugar.
Chicala II é uma península anexa à colina da Fortaleza de São Miguel em Luanda, muito próxima
à zona da cidade que se encontra em grande desenvolvimento. Pretende-se então a criação de
uma nova centralidade, que tenha a intenção primordial de originar um espaço público qualificado,
integrando um mercado, que procure ser um espaço transversal e inclusivo para toda a
população da cidade.
O tema principal prende-se com o estudo dos mercados, enquanto elementos regeneradores do
espaço público urbano e gerador de novas vivências. Assim sendo, entende-se projectar uma
nova parcela da cidade tendo em conta a sua integração na mesma, através de um mercado
pensado para uma região tropical, que dá resposta às necessidades actuais da sociedade e tem
como preocupações, quer no âmbito da concepção e construção, quer no âmbito da manutenção,
que torne este equipamento mais auto-suficiente e sustentável.
Esta nova abordagem ao problema vigente na cidade de Luanda dará ao edifício um caráter de
elemento marcante e ao espaço que o envolve, um carácter de nova centralidade na cidade.
Considerando a intenção primordial de criar um grupo de premissas que se possam tornar
aplicáveis em mais espaços de Luanda, pretende-se que o edifício seja um regenerador de tecido
urbano, através da criação de espaço público, unificando-o.
ABSTRACT: This master’s final project (MFP), is based on the construction of a multifuncional equipment in the context of tropical, public and sustainable architecture, formal and informal, taking into account the social, economic and environmental concerns of this place. Chicala II is a peninsula enclosed to São Miguel Fortress’ Hill in Luanda, very close to the prospering area of the city. The aim is to create a new centrality, which has the primary intention of creating a qualified public space, integrating a market that seeks to be a transversal and inclusive space for the entire population of the city. The main theme is the study of market buildings, as regenerating elements of the urban public space and generating new social experiences. Therefore, it is intended to design a new part of the city taking into account its integration in the same, through a market designed for a tropical region, which meets the current needs of society and has concerns, both within the scope of design and construction, and in the field of maintenance, to make this equipment more self-sufficient and sustainable. This new approach to the current problem in the city of Luanda will give the building a character of outstanding element and the space that surrounds it, a character of new centrality in the city. Considering the primary intention of creating a group of premises that may become applicable in more spaces of Luanda, the building is intended to be a regenerator of urban fabric, through the creation of a public space, unifying it.
