Abstract(s)
Telework still be a recent phenomenon in Portugal, not only as a subject of study but also as a real practice. When we speak about telework we often think of it as one of the "new ways of organising work". ln fact, recent studies made in other countries emphasise the technical aspects of telework. Although they call attention to the psychologi.cal and social implications of telework, the conclusions are mainly descriptive and normally emphasise the advantages of using telework in the near future. By this line ofideas, what we intend to do in our thesis, that is supported by a theoretical and practical research, is to explain some implications related to the sociologicallevel. ln fact, although all the implications originated by telework in what respect to daily life, in a conceptual levei, telework asks for a re evaluation of traditional concepts of sociology, like alienation, collective action, participation and solidarity. We organised our ideas according to three dimensions of the subject: the discourse, the practice and the perception.
