Resumo(s)
Esta tese é uma discussão acerca da música rap enquanto género pop, assim
como de várias questões que esta designação implica. A análise das características do
rap, enquanto género, remete para questões de validade ou validação artísticas que têm
as suas raízes em problemas sociais e identitários. Também estes serão abordados, na
medida em que contribuem para uma melhor compreensão do género, da sua evolução e
das pessoas envolvidas nela.
Abstract: The thesis consists of a discussion of rap music as a pop genre, as well as of several issues implied by this designation. The analysis of rap’s characteristics as a genre brings about questions of artistic validity or validation that have their roots in social and identity problems. These will also be approached, as they contribute to a better understanding of the genre, of its evolution and of the people involved in it.
