This Master’s Final Project, titled “Jamor: Between the City and the Tejo Estuary,” proposes the rehabilitation of the riverfront between Algés and Jamor, in the municipality of Oeiras. The intervention responds to a fragmented urban landscape shaped by the infrastructures of the Estrada Marginal and the railway line. In this context, through the implementation of a High-Performance Canoeing and Rowing Centre, as well as the creation of outdoor spaces to support sports practice, the proposal seeks to restore the historical relationship between the city and the Tejo estuary, promoting a new articulation between territory, water, and community. The intervention draws on the memory of the historical connection to the estuary, proposing a new urban design in which the concepts of porão (lower ground) and boqueirão (water access point) are reinterpreted as spatial devices that foster a gradual and sensorial engagement with the water. Inspired by both national and international references, the project bridges the territorial scale and architectural dimension, proposing a light, rhythmic, accessible architecture that is rooted in its place, attentive to spatial continuity, transparency, and user comfort. More than fulfilling a functional program, the centre is conceived as an urban and social catalyst, integrating into the broader strategy of Jamor as a sports facility. Beyond programmatic response, the project offers a critical reflection on the role of architecture in reconnecting city and nature, contributing to a more inclusive, adaptive, and responsive urban model for the 21st century.
