A regeneração urbana e dos edifícios através da sua adaptação e do prolongamento da sua vida útil como forma de regenerar e requalificar um lugar é um tema cada vez mais pertinente. Com a forte convicção de que a integração da arquitectura na natureza e da natureza na arquitectura são indescuráveis, e que o projecto de arquitectura é em si mesmo um sistema em que todas as acções contam, envolvem processo e transformação e também causa e efeito transdiciplinares e inter-relacionados. O desenho deste Centro Cultural e de Preservação do Património da Serra da Arrábida surge assim, como catalisador das ligações deste território, tendo em conta e respeitando a história do lugar e, priorizando a adaptação da edificação ao contexto natural e urbano. A análise detalhada dos aspectos envolvidos no processo de concepção deste equipamento permitiu alcançar um foco projectual baseado na agregação de valor e de vitalidade, e que ofereça à cidade uma experiência memorável, suprindo carências, colmatando necessidades e enriquecendo este espaço já privilegiado pelas suas singulares características. A intervenção celebra o local, harmonizando o novo com o existente e qualificando os espaços envolventes já consolidados. Mais do que oferecer uma experiência sensorial ao visitante, este edifício ambiciona garantir a sua operacionalidade enquanto espaço de trabalho dedicado à preservação, conservação e divulgação do Património da cidade, o que permitirá a promoção da longevidade da sua utilização e assegurar a sua permanência e relevância ao longo do tempo.
Urban regeneration and the revitalization of buildings through their adaptation and the extension of their lifespan, as a means to regenerate and requalify a place, is an increasingly relevant topic. With the strong belief that the integration of architecture into nature, and nature into architecture, is indispensable, and that the architectural project itself is a system where every action matters and interact in an interconnected and transdisciplinary process of cause and effect. Designing this Cultural Center for Serra da Arrábida Heritage Preservation and Conservation emerges as catalyst for strengthening connections within this territory, respecting the history of the site while prioritizing the adaptation of the building to its natural and urban context. A detailed analysis of the aspects involved in the conception process allowed for a focus on adding value and vitality to the project. It aims to provide the city with a memorable experience, addressing deficiencies, meeting needs, and enriching this place, which is already privileged by its unique characteristics. The intervention celebrates the site by harmonizing the new with the existing and enhancing the surrounding consolidated spaces. Beyond improving a sensory experience to visitors, this building also aspires to ensure its functionality as a workspace dedicated to the preservation, conservation, and dissemination of the city’s heritage. This will promote the longevity of its use and secure its permanence and relevance over time.
