Esta tese propõe a revisitação do estado das relações entre a Bíblia e a Literatura em torno de um pacto, de longa tradição, firmado entre poesia e teologia. Para esse fim, investir-se-á na análise da obra de quatro poetas portugueses do século XX, de modo a interrogar neles os efeitos da presença do objecto textual bíblico, elevado aqui à categoria de matéria literária por excelência. As várias alianças que fornecem o mote desta reflexão serão tomadas como manifestações de um fazer poético sensível às potencialidades de significação da herança bíblica, a que tanto Ruy Belo, Daniel Faria, Tolentino Mendonça, como Miguel Torga se encontram vinculados.
In this thesis, I intend to revisit the relations between the Bible and Literature, based on an old pact that summons both poetry and theology. In order to do so, I analyse the work of four Portuguese poets of the 20th-century, looking at the effects that the presence of the biblical materials (seen in their literary condition) produce on them. The several alliances or covenants that I identify here are taken as manifestations of a poetic work particularly sensitive to the semantic potentialities of a biblical heritage that entails Ruy Belo, Daniel Faria, Tolentino Mendonça, as well as Miguel Torga.
