This dissertation aims to provide a description of materials and techniques of stone sculpture, whose literature is dispersed and often difficult to access. Thus, we intend to create some systematic information, capable to respond any requests from major technical methods of sculpture in stone. The aim is also to create some reflection points, which relate to the aesthetic fundamentals of the relationship between sculptor and the material, discussing the issue of direct-cut in stone carving. She also advances the theoretical, aesthetic and plastic in the methodology of direct-cut and some of its creators
