A cidade de Nova Iorque é uma cidade que, ao longo dos anos tem
sofrido uma constante evolução populacional. E, a par disto, o nosso planeta
nos dias de hoje está também a enfrentar uma crise de sustentabilidade. Assim,
surgem questões ecológicas e sustentáveis, que são urgentes de solucionar. A
arquitetura deve acompanhar este processo, respondendo a este aumento de
densidade e de população.
Reconhecendo as problemáticas hoje em dia existentes,
pretende-se destacar a importância ambiental, de forma a conciliar e equilibrar
as necessidades do Homem com as necessidades ambientais. A proposta
definida surge no sentido de encontrar uma solução integrada que vise a
preocupação dos materiais utlizados, com a envolvente e a dinâmica social, ou
seja, desenvolver uma torre habitacional com uma componente urbana, dando
à cidade de Nova Iorque um novo espaço para “respirar”, através de jardins,
percursos, marina, zonas de comércio e serviços, e principalmente um edifício
de habitação com diferentes tipologias, que fazem o diálogo entre arquitetura,
urbanismo e ecologia.
Aqui, procura-se desenvolver uma visão com base em diversos conceitos
teóricos, de forma a ganharem fo rma com o Projeto Final de Mestrado,
tentando
alcançar uma arquitetura que cumpra os requisitos da sociedade de hoje. Uma
arquitetura amiga do ambiente, pensada para os seus utilizadores, projetada
com materiais renováveis e com soluções adequadas à problemática da cidade
de Nova Iorque.
ABSTRACT: New York City is a city that over the years has undergone a constant population change. And along with this, our planet today is facing a sustainability crisis. Thus, ecological and sustainable issues arise, which are urgent to solve. Architecture must accompany this process, responding to this increase in density and population. Recognizing the problems existing today, it has intended to highlight the environmental importance, in order to reconcile and balance the needs of man with environmental needs.The defined proposal emerges in the sense of finding an integrated solution that aims the concern of the materials used, with the surroundings and the social dynamics, to develop a residential tower with an urban component, giving New York City a new space to “breathe”, through gardens, paths, marina, shopping areas and services, and mainly a housing building with different typologies, that make the dialogue between architecture, urbanism and ecology. Here, we try to develop a vision based on several theoretical concepts, in order to gain shape with the Final Master Project, trying to achieve an architecture that meets the requirements of today’s society. An architecture that is environmentally friendly, designed for its users, designed with renewable materials and with solutions appropriate to the problems of New York City
