The interest in bicycles has increased exponentially, in order to make them a more effective and useful product. In that context, and in an leisure component, a new concept of bicycle has emerged, considered out of the ordinary and with a differential character. This bicycle, the ELIP bicycle, although similar to bicycles considered normal, it presents elliptical wheels, independently controlled. It is important to understand the perceptions of users, face to the functionality of the bicycle, and the satisfaction that transmits, considering a diversity of decisions factors. For to do this, it focused in two aspects of Ergonomics, namely Usability, performance perception, and User Experience, which is composed by the first, together with the analysis of the user’s emotional response. There are scarce evaluation methodologies of Usability and User Experience, face to physical products, in particularly bicycles. In this sense, the present study aimed to develop a summative methodological approach, inexpensive and easy to apply, involving systemically the assess of these parameters. It is, thus a contributive study to evaluate the ELIP bicycle. The research is divided into two studies: Study I and Study II, wherein the first, the interaction with the bicycle is assess, through a questionnaire comprising Usability and two tools of emotional responses of users, comprising the User Experience in its totality. In the second study, divided by two moments of collection, A and B, is focused only in the observation of the bicycle assessing only the emotional response. The sample of Study I consists of 30 participants and the sample of Study II by 50 participants (Moment A – 36; Moment B – 14). The developed methodology has showed easy to apply, inexpensive and it reveals itself effectiveness in achieving results and its discrimination. The results show some contradictions between the two studies, wherein the first study, the bicycle considered normal has more positive results with better levels of usability and a better user experience. Regarding ELIP, as it increases its oscillation, the evaluation of the user becomes more negative. It is noted, however, that even representing a bigger challenge, is the ELIP bicycle itself that presents as more exciting. In the second study, the results revealed more positive emotional responses in ELIP bicycle. This study allowed to indict the methodology created as effective and potentially adequate to analysis of this product. There was a general enthusiasm due to the ELIP bicycle, however, adversely affected by the difficulties associated with its use. It should be noted that this is an initial study and it has to be caution in the interpretation and generalization of data, suggesting a new study with a more comprehensive and random sample.
