Numa altura em que o Brasil se internacionaliza e a literatura brasileira procura
quebrar barreiras linguísticas e chegar ao mundo, o conselho editorial da Granta
selecionou e publicou uma coletânea de textos de 20 jovens autores brasileiros, em
sintonia com as políticas culturais do novo contexto global.
Os textos literários da antologia foram selecionados por editores experientes de
acordo com critérios específicos, numa tentativa de abranger a diversidade de vozes e
estilos dos escritores brasileiros emergentes e de apresentar a literatura brasileira
através das perspectivas, estilos inovadores e interesses temáticos destes escritores.
Esta dissertação analisará as características e particularidades da antologia Granta: os
melhores jovens escritores brasileiros, assim como o contexto literário, cultural e
editorial em que foi publicada. Igualmente, analisará os textos da referida antologia,
comparando as caraterísticas e os temas das ficções publicadas na coletânea com
tendências e fenómenos da literatura brasileira contemporânea, pois grande parte dos
textos exploram temas recorrentes na ficção brasileira das últimas décadas, como as
questões sociais, a memória histórica, a dicotomia urbano-rural e a identidade.
Assim, pretendemos examinar criticamente a diversidade que a Granta apresenta e,
ao mesmo tempo, responder às seguintes questões: os textos publicados na antologia
são representativos da literatura brasileira contemporânea? Representam a voz da
nova geração de escritores brasileiros? A antologia tem tido o efeito de divulgação
que se pretendia? Qual o seu grau de internacionalização e influência?
At a time when Brazil is going international and Brazilian literature is trying to break down language barriers and reach the world, Granta's editorial board has selected and published a collection of texts by 20 young Brazilian authors, in line with the cultural policies of the new global context. The literary texts in the anthology were selected by experienced editors according to specific criteria, in an attempt to encompass the diversity of voices and styles of emerging Brazilian writers and to present Brazilian literature through the perspectives, innovative styles and thematic interests of these writers. This dissertation will analyze the characteristics and particularities of the anthology Granta: os melhores jovens escritores brasileiros(Granta: the best young Brazilian writers), as well as the literary, cultural and editorial context in which it was published. It will also analyze the texts in the anthology, comparing the characteristics and themes of the fiction published in the collection with trends and phenomena in contemporary Brazilian literature, since most of the texts explore recurring themes in Brazilian fiction in recent decades, such as social issues, historical memory, the urban-rural dichotomy and identity. Thus, we intend to critically examine the diversity that Granta presents and, at the same time, answer the following questions: are the texts published in the anthology representative of contemporary Brazilian literature? Do they represent the voice of the new generation of Brazilian writers? Has the anthology had the intended dissemination effect? What is its degree of internationalization and influence?
