This dissertation has the objective of studying a professional group until now ignored, this group being veterinarians. To characterize the veterinarians the Job Stress Survey was used, (Spielberger & Vagg, 1999), comparing this professional group with four others, Teachers and Bankers (Rafael, 2001), External Consultants (Pinto, 2012) and police officers from the PSP (Branco, 2010). Additionally, male and female veterinarians were compared, using the data that was gathered. The most dangerous stressors for the professional were identified as being “Working Overtime”, “Inadequate Salary” and “Insufficient personal time”. As for gender differences, significant differences between the sexes were found, with women suffering more from events and encountering them more frequently than men.
