Uma das consequências do processo de aquisição de uma língua em contexto de con-tacto de línguas intenso é a emergência de fenómenos linguísticos que divergem da norma da língua a ser adquirida, quer como L1 e L2. Neste estudo propomo-nos analisar o Português falado em Benguela (Angola) por falantes que adquirem o Português como língua materna, num espaço onde também se fala amplamente o Umbundu, uma língua Bantu. É nosso objeti-vo fazer uma primeira descrição de fenómenos divergentes da norma do Português europeu identificados na produção oral destes falantes nos diferentes domínios da gramática.
Com vista à obtenção de dados orais, gravámos e transcrevemos um conjunto de en-trevistas semiabertas recolhidas junto de falantes de Português L1 em Benguela com perfis sociolinguísticos distintos, tendo procedido à descrição e análise dos fenómenos linguísticos identificados e à sua comparação com a norma do Português europeu.
Defendemos que os fenómenos observados são produzidos por influência de diversos fatores que estão interrelacionados, nomeadamente o contacto histórico entre o Umbundu e o Português, a tendência de mudança interna patenteada pelas línguas, a aquisição parcial dos parâmetros da língua-alvo (Português) e a exposição a input de pessoas que adquiriram o Por-tuguês como L2. Estes fatores proporcionaram a exposição a dados linguísticos primários com valores paramétricos que nem sempre coincidem com os da norma do Português euro-peu.
Como nos dados que registámos encontramos fenómenos linguísticos comuns aos in-formantes dos diferentes níveis de escolarização considerados, assumimos que a variável ‘ins-trução’ não parece desempenhar um papel importante na apropriação da norma do Português. Nesta dissertação, mostramos também que os fenómenos identificados na produção oral dos informantes observados revelam indícios da emergência de uma variedade divergente da norma do PE, que é, em geral, convergente com os aspetos linguísticos já reportados para outros pontos de Angola.
One of the consequences of the process of acquisition of a language in a context of in-tense language contact is the emergence of linguistic features that differ from the target lan-guage, either as a first or a second language. This thesis analyzes Portuguese spoken in Ben-guela (Angola) by speakers who acquired this language as their native language, in a context where Umbundu, a Bantu language, is also widely spoken. Our main aim is to provide a pre-liminary description of some of the phenomena that diverge from the European Portuguese, the target language, which characterize the spoken production of those speakers in various grammatical domains. In order to obtain spoken data, a number of semi-structured interviews of L1 Portu-guese speakers in Benguela with different sociolinguistic profiles were recorded and tran-scribed. Subsequently, the linguistic phenomena were described, analyzed, and compared with European Portuguese. It is argued that these phenomena occur due to the influence of different, interrelated factors, such as the historical contact between Umbundu and Portuguese, a tendency for inter-nal language change, partial acquisition of parameters of the target language parameters (Por-tuguese), and exposure to input from L2 Portuguese speakers. These factors have led to expo-sure to primary linguistic data with parametric values that do not always match of European Portuguese. Since the data exhibit linguistic phenomena that are common to informants with dif-ferent levels of instruction, the variable ‘instruction’ does not appear to play a major role in the appropriation of the target language. This thesis further shows that the phenomena identi-fied in the spoken production of the analyzed informants constitute evidence of a variety that diverges from European Portuguese, but which is generally convergent with the linguistic aspects that have been previously reported for other parts of Angola.
