O presente trabalho de investigação tem como principal objectivo a caracterização do telejornal de serviço público em tempo de crise. Para alcançar este objectivo foi necessário analisar o comportamento do alinhamento noticioso tendo como pano de fundo o contexto de crise. Estabeleceu-se então um enquadramento teórico abrangendo as temáticas do agenda-setting e do serviço público para em seguida prosseguir com a análise empírica. A hipótese inicial sugere a existência de um número maior de peças relativas às questões políticas quando comparado com o número e o tempo consagrado às restantes categorias temáticas. Escolheu-se então tratar os telejornais de sábado à noite entre os meses de Maio e Outubro de 2012. Esperava-se encontrar uma maior quantidade de peças relacionadas com as questões políticas quando comparadas com as restantes categorias temáticas incluídas nos noticiários. A pertinência deste trabalho prende-se então com a análise feita aos telejornais tendo como pano de fundo o turbulento tempo de crise política, social e económica que o país atravessa.
This master’s thesis aims to characterize the public service broadcasting in a time of crisis. To reach this purpose one had to analyze the behavior of news alignment having as background a context of crisis. The theoretical framework was made covering the agenda-setting and public service topics. The initial hypothesis suggests that there is a major number of politic issues news when compared with the amount and time consecrated to the rest of the other themes. Saturday night TV newscasts from May to October 2012 were then chosen to the study. One expected to find a bigger amount of news concerning the politic issues when compared with the rest of the themes. The relevance of this paper is related with the analysis of the TV news cast while having the turbulent time of the Portuguese political, social and economic crisis as background.
