| dc.description.abstract | É evidente o enquadramento privilegiado que Setúbal possui, particularmente dada a sua ligação de coexistência com o Estuário do Sado, que a caracterizada por inúmeras e deslumbrantes particularidades, quer em termos naturais pela sua fauna e flora únicas, como a nível patrimonial. E é neste quadro, pintado por características que definem toda a Serra da Arrábida, que encontramos o local que serve de suporte e de onde provêm a inspiração para a integração de uma futura estrutura edificada. Contudo, este quadro sofreu com o passar dos séculos inúmeras alterações, principalmente no século XIX, quando em consequência dos constantes aterros realizados pelo porto de Setúbal, a relação entre este local e o Sado viu-se brutalmente transformada, vindo a redefinir novos contornos para a linha de costa e, consequentemente, suscitar vazios urbanos e áreas obsoletas. Mas apesar do cenário redutor do lugar, ainda lhe é reconhecido o devido valor e potencial paisagístico e urbano pela importância que a população atribui ao local através da sua memória. Um dos locais que apresenta claramente este potencial é Albarquel, que constrói uma simbiose entre a cidade e o meio, unindo os valores humanos e as ações transformadoras na paisagem. E neste contexto, focado na exploração deste potencial, o presente Trabalho Final de Mestrado procura reinterpretar o principal vazio urbano da frente ribeirinha de Albarquel, no local da 8ª Bateria de Albarquel, de forma não apenas a revitalizar a frente ribeirinha, como também restabelecer o vínculo com a cidade, de modo a dar um novo sentido aos principais elementos da paisagem: a água, a Serra da Arrábida e ao Património de defesa militar. O novo equipamento explora a reintegração de novos espaços, através da renovação de elementos pré-existentes do lugar. São propostos elementos de força e destaque, para a criação de um novo espaço da cidade. | dc.description.abstract | Setúbal's privileged setting is obvious, particularly given its coexistence with the Sado Estuary. This is characterized by countless stunning features, both in natural terms through its unique fauna and flora, and in terms of heritage. And it is in this picture, painted by characteristics that define the whole of the Serra da Arrábida, that we find the place that serves as a support and from which the inspiration for the integration of a future built structure comes. However, this picture has undergone countless changes over the centuries, especially in the 19th century, when as a result of the constant landfill carried out by the port of Setúbal, the relationship between this site and the Sado was brutally transformed, redefining new contours for the coastline and, consequently, creating urban voids and obsolete areas. But in spite of the place's shrinking landscape, it is still recognized as having its landscape and urban potential due to the value that the population attaches to the place through its memory. One of the places that clearly shows this potential is Albarquel, which builds a symbiosis between the city and the environment, uniting human values, and transformative actions in the landscape. And in this context, focused on exploring this potential, this Final Master's Work seeks to reinterpret the main urban void on the Albarquel waterfront, on the site of the 8th Battery of Albarquel, in order not only to revitalize the waterfront, but also to re-establish the link with the city in order to give new meaning to the main elements of the landscape: the water, the Serra da Arrábida and the military defence heritage. The new facility explores the reintegration of new spaces by updating pre existing elements of the place. Elements of strength and prominence are proposed for the creation of a new space in the city. The intention would be to reinterpret the river and the heritage as urban elements that seek to revitalize the city, integrating it into its surroundings. | en |
