As práticas de Gestão da Qualidade são muitas vezes consideradas um meio para alcançar uma performance superior da empresa, no entanto existem muitos obstáculos para a implementação destas práticas, sendo um deles o tipo de cultura existente dentro da própria empresa.
O presente estudo divide as práticas de Gestão da Qualidade em dois grupos (Quality Exploration e Quality Exploitation). O modelo conceptual proposto avalia em que medida o tipo de cultura organizacional afeta a implementação destes dois grupos de práticas.
Este estudo foi efetuado a partir das 142 respostas obtidas nos questionários enviados por e-mail para empresas portuguesas de manufatura, certificadas pela norma ISO 9001, que foram preenchidos online.
Os resultados mostram que dos quatro tipos de cultura estudados, três têm uma associação positiva com a implementação de práticas de Gestão da Qualidade tanto exploration como exploitation, nomeadamente a cultura de desenvolvimento, a cultura de grupo, e a cultura hierárquica. Por outro lado, os resultados indicaram uma ausência de significância entre a cultura racional e a implementação de práticas de qualidade exploration e exploitation.
Quality Management practices are often considered as a mean to achieve a superior performance of the organization, however there are many obstacles to the implementation of these practices, such as the type of culture within the organization.
