Abstract(s)
Este trabalho de investigação resulta de um caminho de “prática-investigadora” que pretende aprofundar a reflexão sobre a profissão de Assistente Social numa perspectiva a partir de dentro do campo e no entendimento de que a profissão se constrói e se aprende, no diálogo entre a sua própria explicitação e as teorias sobre o mundo. A área científica em que se insere é uma das suas particularidades, já que foi desenvolvido no campo da Educação/Formação de Adultos e tem como eixo central o interesse pela compreensão dos percursos formativos e de construção identitária dos assistentes sociais. A análise realizada parte do pressuposto de que, num tempo de ultra-racionalidade instrumental, o conceito de profissão está em mutação; e, no caso, a profissionalidade dos assistentes sociais não será excepção, pela sua prática interventiva conotada com as pessoas em situação de pobreza e/ou vulnerabilidade social, «colada» às instituições e ao Estado-providência e estigmatizada como «placebo» do Capitalismo. Contudo, será importante pontuar que o trabalho social, com a complexidade, multidimensionalidade e transversalidade que lhe estão associadas, constitui um campo próprio onde exercem genericamente os chamados trabalhadores sociais e, de entre eles, @s assistentes sociais como grupo profissional específico. Estes profissionais partilham as problemáticas, os contextos e os riscos e são actores de «inclusão e exclusão» numa sociedade que tende a desvalorizar os seus fazeres e saberes, tal como o faz com as populações com que trabalham. Por um lado, branqueando a profissionalização e a profissionalidade numa categoria genérica de ‘técnicos superiores’ e, por outro, exigindo uma prática baseada em ‘evidências’ prescritas e quantificáveis que pouco têm a ver com o seu ‘Know-how’ específico e/ou com as respostas às necessidades das pessoas. Em simultâneo, os próprios profissionais, por vezes, não se descrevem nem se reconhecem como actores e autores ao serviço de uma cidadania democrática. A presente tese analisa e reflecte o Serviço Social, como uma profissão e uma disciplina que procuram novas legitimidades entre velhas dicotomias, num processo de reflexão emancipatória que equacione a construção profissional, entre as heranças e dinâmicas de um percurso histórico e o imperativo de explicitar a profissionalidade. Neste processo de explicitação, são questionados aspectos como a «colonização disciplinar», a adaptabilidade e a neutralidade da profissão, entre outros, que dificultam espaços de autonomia e produção de conhecimento e onde @s assistentes sociais parecem cada vez mais confinados a espaços de exercício sujeitos à ‘funcionalização’ e à ‘evidência’. Nesta conjuntura, a realização de entrevistas de inspiração biográfica a dezanove assistentes sociais e a análise das suas narrativas permitiu dar-lhes voz e esboçar tipologias de percursos de aprendizagem da profissão e tipologias de formas identitárias. O material empírico recolhido durante a pesquisa revela uma grande diversidade, mas também contradições e tensões presentes no campo profissional, a que não serão estranhas as relações de força e poder dentro e fora do campo científico e profissional. A passagem do comunitário ao societário implica uma modificação da própria estrutura da identidade pessoal, o aparecimento de novas formas de subjectividade e a conversão identitária que faz passar os indivíduos de membros submissos a sujeitos actores – o que, embora os torne muito mais incertos e expostos, pode fazer emergir oportunidades de transformação. O Serviço Social, na medida em que se afasta da identidade que o estigmatizou como mediador de um pensamento conformista, vai recuperando diversidade interna e oportunidades de construção de novas formas de participação nos processos de mudança social. E ao equacionar a necessidade de produzir conhecimento sobre os processos pelos quais se aprendem e se constroem saberes, numa tentativa de desocultar e nomear o que se vive e aquilo a que se atribui significado nestes contextos de intervenção, pode restaurar-se um espaço público de profissionalidade como lugar de visibilidade de si e do outro, pela acção e pela palavra. E também de identidades co – construídas na interacção com muitos «outros».
This investigation work comes from a “practical-way” that pretends to deepen the reflexion about the social worker job in a perspective from inside the field and in the knowledge that the profession is build and learned in the dialogue between it’s own explication and the theories about the world. The scientific area in which is inserted it’s one of his particularities, since it was developed in the field of Education/Adults Formation and has as central axis the interest for the comprehension of the formative routes and the construction of the identity of the social workers. The analysis held goes from the assumption that in an ultra instrumental rational time, the concept of the profession is changing; and in the case that the professionalism of the social workers won’t be an exception, by his interventional practice connoted with the people in a poverty situation and/or social vulnerability «glued» to the institutions and the welfare state and stigmatized as capitalism placebo. However, it will be important punctuate that the social work, with the complexity, multidimensionality and transversality that are associated to it, constitutes an own field where exercise generically the so called social workers as a specific professional group. This professionals share the problematics, the contexts and the risks and are actors of “Inclusion and exclusion” in a society that tends to overestimate their doings and knowledge, just as it does with the populations that they work with. In one way, bleaching the professionalization and the professionalism in a generic category of “superior technicals” and in another way, demanding a evidence practice based, prescribed and quantified, what have little to do with their specific “know-how” and/or with the answers to the people necessities. Simultaneously, the own professionals, sometimes, don’t describe neither recognize themselves has actors and authors in the service of a democratic citizenship. The present thesis analyses and reflects the Social Work, as a profession and a discipline that looks for new legitimacy between old dichotomies, in process of emancipatory reflexion that balances the professional construction between the inheritance and dynamic of an historic process and the imperative of explaining the professionalism. In this process of explanation, some aspects are questioned, such as the “disciplinary colonization”, the adaptability and neutrality of the profession, among others, which difficult spaces of autonomy and production of knowledge, and where the social workers look even more confined to spaces of exercise subjected to “functionalization” and to “evidence”. In this conjuncture, the realization of interviews of biographic inspiration to nineteen social workers and the analysis of their stories allowed giving them voice and identify typologies of ways of learning the profession and typologies of identity forms. The empiric material collected during the research reveals a huge diversity, but also contradictions and tensions present in the professional field, to which are not strange the relations of strength and power inside and outside the scientific and professional field. The passage from the community to the corporate implicates a modification of it’s own structure of personal identity, the appearing of new ways of subjectivity and the identity conversion which makes move the individual of submissive members to actors subject – which, though makes them more uncertain and exposed, can make emerge transformation opportunities. The social service, in the way that goes further away from the identity that stigmatized it has a mediator of a conformist thinking, goes recovering intern diversity and the opportunities of constructing new ways of participating in the processes of social changing. And equating the necessity of producing knowledge over the processes by which learn and builds knowledge, in a way of uncover and nominate what is living and what we give significance in this intervention contexts, can restore a public space of professionalism as a place of visibility of self and other, by the action on the word; and also of identities co-build in the interaction with “others”.
