Neste trabalho pretende dar-se a conhecer um pouco daquilo em que consiste a dialéctica para Platão.
A dialéctica pode ser primeiramente definida como um saber perguntar e responder. Contudo, este saber perguntar e responder não surge de um modo aleatório, mas tem por base já uma certa compreensão acerca de aquilo que é, isto é, acerca do ser.
O verdadeiro ser, para Platão, não é algo que se encontra sob o domínio da representação ou de qualquer tipo de determinação subjectiva, nem é algo que possa ser apreendido pelos sentidos. O verdeiro ser, segundo Platão, é a Ideia, e é no seu carácter "ideial" que a Ideia, o verdadeiro ser, deve ser apreendida, ou seja, só pelo pensamento é que esse ser pode ser inteligido. Assim, a Ideia é maximamente objectiva e encontra-se organizada segundo um princípio: a ideia de bem.
Neste trabalho, procurar-se-á, portanto, começar por perceber de que modo o ser platónico é concebido, passando, posteriormente, para uma tentativa de compreender de que modo se pode aceder a esse ser, com o fim de descobrir esse modo de conhecer o verdadeiro real ao qual Platão chamou dialéctica.
O acesso à verdadeira ontologia do real, como se tentará mostrar, dá-se através da matemática, sendo que esta disciplina do saber também auxiliará aquele que procura compreender o real a pensar dialecticamente, isto é, pensar o que cada Ideia é.

This thesis intends to show in part what Plato considered dialectics to be. Dialectics can be firstly defined as a way of knowing how to ask and how to answer. This knowledge, however, doesn't appear randomly but is already based in a certain understanding of what is, i.e., of being. To Plato, the real being isn't something under the domain of representation or any kind of subjective determination nor is it something that can be given by the senses. To Plato, the real being is the Idea, and it is in its "Ideal" character that the Idea, the real being, must be apprehended, that is, it can only be intelligible through reason. The Idea is therefore fully objective and is organised according to a principle: the idea of Good. The aim of this thesis will firstly be to begin to understand in what way the platonic Being is conceived and secondly to attempt to understand how to access that Being, with the goal of finding that way of knowing the real Being to which Plato gave the name of dialectics. The access to the true ontology of Reality, as we will try to demonstrate, is found through mathematics. This field of knowledge will also assist those who seek to understand Reality to think dialectically, that is, to think about what each Idea is. Keywords: dialectics, mathematics, one, many, idea.
