A metodologia de ensino à distância, nasceu da necessidade de adaptar o ensino à atual sociedade da tecnologia e conhecimento.
Nas últimas décadas verificou-se um acentuado crescimento deste modalidade. O progresso tecnológico desenvolveu novas metodologias e ferramentas, ao mesmo tempo que promoveu a sua utilização no ensino. Esta nova abordagem permitiu um fácil acesso à informação, é certo, contudo, permitiu também, o acesso a espaços virtuais de aprendizagem, onde a cooperação, a colaboração e a partilha são fomentadas. Neste contexto surgem os fóruns de discussão, como ferramenta pedagógica, exigindo uma mudança metodológica e uma nova atitude de alunos e professores.
Aliás, é inevitável pensar nas imensas potencialidades dos fóruns como espaços de construção coletiva de conhecimento, onde a comunicação síncrona e assíncrona desempenham um papel fundamental. Todavia, estes ambientes implicam conhecimentos específicos e orientações diferenciadas.
Neste âmbito, a análise de fóruns de discussão assumiu-se como a temática central neste projeto, tendo como objetivo perceber as dinâmicas criadas, baseadas na colaboração e na cooperação, entre alunos/estudantes, dois fóruns de discussão, no âmbito e uma disciplina de um mestrado em regime de e-learning, mais especificamente na área de Educação e Habitats Digitais, no decorrer do ano letivo 2013/2014. Os fóruns distinguiam-se pela existência de obrigatoriedade de interação num dos mesmos.
Os resultados demonstraram que a frequência com que os alunos envolvidos interagiram ficou muito abaixo do possível e que o fator obrigatoriedade não produziu os efeitos esperados no estimulo ao desenvolvimento de dinâmicas de participação e envolvimento entre os estudantes online.
The e-learning methodology was born form the need to adapt the current teaching to the technologic and knowledge society. In the last decades it was verified a big growth in this area. The technologic progress developed methodologies and tools, and at the same time promoted its usage in teaching. This new approach allowed an easy access to information, is true, however, it allowed as well, the access to virtual spaces of learning, where cooperation, collaboration and sharing are promoted. In this context appear the discussion forums, as a learning tool, demanding a methodological change and a new attitude from students and teachers. In fact, it is inevitable not to think in the several possibilities of forums as spaces of collective building of knowledge, where synchronous and asynchronous communications have a fundamental role. However, this environments demand specific knowledge and distinct guidance. Therefore, the analysis of discussion forums became the central theme developed in this project, and its main objective is to understand the created dynamics, based in the collaboration and cooperation, between students/learners, in two discussion forums, regarding the master’s degree in the form of e-learning, more specifically in the area of Education and Digital Habitats, during the school year 2013/2014. The forums were different because they required interaction. The results shown that the frequency the students involved interacted with the forums was bellow the possible and that the requirement to participate did not produce the expected effect and did not stimulated the development of participation dynamics and involvement of the students online.
