In an environment where the forest is essential for the development of the primary sector and in which Portugal seeks to improve its forestry sector, it is mandatory that we rethink the operating model of logging companies. Besides being a relevant subject, given the vast area it occupies and the sheer number of private proprietors who own forest land, it is also very timely, due to the incidence and consequences of fires in the territory. An industry that lived times of great prosperity in Portugal and faced, in the last 20 years, an equally large decline, is now confronted with the possibility of investment, mostly due to the slowdown of the world's most powerful countries at this regard. The model of this study, shown in the form of a business plan, aims to present the advantages of a solution combining synergies between different activities present in a pine forest, especially of wood, resin and biomass, in order to obtain a reduction of operating costs. With an initial capital of €250.000, the estimated NPV from the viewpoint of the investor is €2.950.439 and from the prespective of the project is of ?3.079.159. Foreseeing the start up of its activity by mid 2014, the company, based in Castelo Branco, at the end of 2019, intends to be responsible for 3.307 hectares and reach sales of 6.401.172 million euros.
