O presente estudo trata do perfil funcional de Joaquim Sérvulo Correia, reitor do Liceu
de Camões, em Lisboa, no período de 1950 a 1974. A sua “ação educativa” como reitor é
analisada tendo em conta as dimensões “administrativa” e “profissional”, e observando com
maior detalhe, a sua intervenção disciplinar, por si perspetivada como fundamental para o
sucesso organizacional e educativo. O estudo mostra como um reitor constrói a identidade do
Liceu através das suas tomadas de posição nos vários conselhos, nas ordens de serviço que
emite, nos editais que publica, nos ofícios que produz e nas relações que estabelece com a
comunidade educativa. Nele encontramos a lógica de ação/relação do Reitor, no contexto
escolar, a partir das suas prioridades, propósitos e fins, enquadrados no contexto histórico e
organizacional.
O estudo procura dar resposta a duas questões fundamentais: «Qual é o perfil funcional
do reitor Sérvulo Correia?» e «Como se carateriza a sua ação educativa?». Foi construído
através de três eixos de análise: (1) políticas educativas e ensino liceal, visto através de uma
visão tripartida do perfil de aluno, professor e reitor; (2) ação do Reitor como “administrador” e
“profissional”; (3) ‘disciplina liceal’ como fator fundamental para o sucesso do “ato educativo”.
Segue uma tipologia de estudo denominada de caso histórico-organizacional, construída com
base na pesquisa arquivística, onde se recorre predominantemente aos documentos oficiais
existentes no arquivo do Liceu de Camões.
O estudo evidencia que a ação do Reitor oscila entre a figura autoritária e disciplinadora
e uma atitude paternalista, construída com base numa relação de liderança autoritária e
controladora que se traduz num apropriar do espaço educativo, da sua “casa”. Os princípios que
justificam as suas tomadas de ação são o rigor, a honestidade, a qualidade pedagógica, a ordem
e a disciplina, que visam criar “obra perfeita”, onde o Liceu se torna num espaço que não se
limita a instruir, mas que serve fundamentalmente para educar. Um “ato educativo” construído
com base em valores e princípios fundamentais, que traduzem a sua ação numa dinâmica
moralizadora, onde se afirma como “líder” que tem a seu cargo uma “missão educativa”
edificada numa “unidade de pensamento” capaz de fomentar o sucesso e o prestígio do Liceu.
The present study deals with the functional profile of Joaquim Sérvulo Correia rector of the Liceu de Camões, in Lisbon, in the period 1950-1974. His "educational activity" as rector is analyzed taking into account the dimensions "administrative" and "professional" and observing with greater detail, his disciplinary intervention, put in perspective by him as essential to the organizational and educational success. The study shows how a rector constructs the identity of the school through his positions on various councils, orders of service that emits, in edicts published, crafts which produce and in the relationships that establish with the educational community. Here we find the logic of action / relation of the Rector in school context, from its priorities, purposes and ends, framed in the historical context and organizational one. The study seeks to answer two fundamental questions: "What is the functional profile of the Rector Sérvulo Correia? and “How is characterized his educational action? ». It was built by three analysis axes: (1) educational policies and school education, seen through a tripartite view of the student profile, teacher and Rector, (2) action of the Rector as "administrator" and "professional", (3 ) 'school discipline' as a fundamental factor for the success of the "educational act." It follows a typology study called historical-organizational case, built on archival research which resorts predominantly on official documents on file in the Liceu de Camões. The study evidences that the action of the Rector oscillates between the authoritarian and disciplinarian figure, and a paternalistic attitude constructed on the basis of authoritarian and controlled leadership that translates into a suitable educational space, of his "home". The basics that justify his actions are the strictness, honesty, pedagogical quality, order and discipline aimed at creating "perfect work" where the School becomes a space that is not limited to instruct but which serves to fundamentally educate. An "educational act" built on values and fundamental principles which reflect his action into a moralizing dynamic, where he asserts himself as "leader" who has in charge an "educational mission" built in a "unity of thought" able to promote the success and the prestige of the School.
