O presente relatório resulta da realização de um estágio profissionalizante no quadro do mestrado em Tradução da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa. O estágio visou o desenvolvimento de competências adquiridas na componente letiva do curso, tendo como entidade de acolhimento o Instituto Superior de Ciências Policiais e Segurança Interna. As tarefas desempenhadas incluíram a tradução, revisão e elaboração de glossário de um manual de segu-rança britânico, em que o inglês e o português foram o par de línguas de traba-lho.
Neste âmbito, constituirão objeto de reflexão as dificuldades sentidas e, bem assim, aspetos pertinentes pela sua discrepância com o original. Estes dois elementos serão aqui abordados tendo em conta os seguintes temas: o pro-cesso de tradução, as cadeias referenciais, a pontuação, a modalidade e as técnicas de tradução.
The report hereby presented is the result of an internship undertaken within the framework of the master’s degree in Translation at Faculdade de Letras da Uni-versidade de Lisboa. The internship aimed at the development of skills acquired during the academic path and had Instituto Superior de Ciências Policiais e Se-gurança Interna as hosting institution. The tasks carried out included the trans-lation, revision along with the production of a glossary, having a British security guide as source text. Portuguese was the target language. In this context, the report will be centred around the difficulties encountered as well as aspects which turned out to be relevant due to the discrepancy they rep-resent between source and target text. Those two topics are discussed while approaching the following themes: translation process, reference chains, punc-tuation, modality, and translation techniques.
