Bilateral total knee arthroplasty in young individuals with rheumatoid arthritis is a highly significant surgical intervention aimed at improving quality of life and functionality. This paper presents a clinical case of a young patient with rheumatoid arthritis, highlighting the clinical complexity that led to the decision for surgery. While arthroplasty is more common in elderly patients with osteoarthritis, this paper aims to demonstrate that, in specific cases such as severe limitations in mobility, it may be considered in younger patients. This option of bilateral prostheses is reserved for patients capable of tolerating the procedure, particularly in the presence of axial deviations or bilateral deformities. The paper aims to address the benefits and risks of the intervention, as well as therapeutic alternatives, emphasizing the need for an individualized approach, considering the patient's characteristics.
