O objectivo deste estudo é analisar a crise argentina. Nos anos 90 do séc. )0C
a Argentina implementou reformas estruturais, passando por um profundo
processo de liberalização e privatização. O FMI apoiou este país
financeiramente e apontou a Argentina como um modelo de desenvolvimento a
ser seguido por outras economias emergentes. Contudo, no final de 1998
iniciou-se uma crise económica com graves consequências políticas e sociais,
que se fazem sentir até ao presente momento. Tentaremos identificar a quem
cabem as responsabilidades: o Governo Argentino, o FMI ou ambos.
The aim of this study is to analyse the Argentine crisis. During the 90$ Argentina implemented structural reforms and went through a deep process of liberalization and privatisation. The IMF supported the country financially and pointed out Argentina as a developing model to be followed by other emerging markets. Nevertheless an economic crisis with strong political and social effects started in late 1998 and lasts until the present. We will try to identify to whom the responsibilities should be addressed: the Argentine Govemment, the IMF or both.
