In a context marked by growing environmental awareness and increasing resource constraints, the design world faces the pressing challenge of re-evaluating its conventional practices, particularly in the exhibition design sector. This study highlights the concept of the circular economy (CE) as a transformative model that prioritizes restoration, resource efficiency and waste reduction, addressing contemporary challenges such as climate change and resource depletion. As this is an exploratory study, the triangulation process was used to converge the results of the three methods used in order to corroborate the different points of view. The methods used were secondary research, through a literature review; primary research, which consisted of interviews with professionals in the field; and research through practice, with the intervention carried out in the DESIGN FUTURES initiative. The study thus identifies the main challenges and opportunities for implementing circular design strategies. Although there are guidelines and examples of successful initiatives for sustainability in exhibition design, the results of this study reveal that the transition to implementing practices for circularity is at an embryonic stage in some sectors and more developed in others. By exploring the intersection between circular design and exhibition practices, this study contributes to raising awareness of affirmative practices for sustainability in exhibition design, offering new perspectives for future initiatives that promote conscious and responsible exhibitions.
