A seguinte dissertação tem como objetivo estudar o método de instrução militar naval
dado a um soldado recruta, recém incorporado à vida militar, utilizado no início do século
XIX pelo corpo vocacionado para guarnecer a artilharia das embarcações de guerra e
atuar como infantaria de desembarque da Marinha Real portuguesa, a Brigada Real da
Marinha. Para trazer à luz vivências de inserção a um mundo novo, o mundo militar
(pautado pelas suas próprias características e ethos), escolheu-se como documento base
o livro Instruções para a Brigada Real da Marinha, principiando pela escola do soldado
até a de pelotão, um compêndio de instruções contemporâneo as políticas de
reorganização e modernização de uma Marinha cuja a necessidade de proteção do
comércio marítimo com o Atlântico e a percepção da ameaça de uma guerra com a França
Revolucionária lhe fizera reestruturar-se. Desta forma, a instrução para soldados é uma
preocupação presente neste período e essencial neste processo de modernização,
mostrando-a primordial para dominar a tecnologia vigente.
The following dissertation aims to study the method of naval military instruction given to a recruit soldier, newly incorporated into military life, used in the early 19th centurie by the corp dedicated to manning the artillery of warships and acting as landing infantry of the portuguese Royal Navy, the Brigada Real da Marinha. To bring experiences of insertion into a new world (based on its own characteristics and ethos), the book Instruções para a Brigada Real da Marinha, principiando pela escola do soldado até a de pelotão was chosen as the base document, a contemporary compendium of instructions on the policies of reorganizing and modernizing a Navy whose need to protect maritime trade with the Atlantic and the perceived threat of war with Revolutionary France had restructured it. Thus, instruction for soldiers is a preoccupation present in this modernization process, showing it to be essential to master the current technology.
