Although widely studied in adult psychotherapy, the processes established in the relationship between therapist and child were, for a long time, neglected. By recognizing the importance of the therapeutic alliance to the psychotherapy success, this study proposes an analysis of the therapeutic process using the Child Psychotherapy Process Scales from Estrada & Russell, 1999. Those scales allow the measure, the description and the evaluation of the child psychotherapy process, based on the role of the components of the different technical and relational processes which occur in psychotherapy and their association to the establishment of a positive therapeutic alliance. Being specifically a case study (in which twenty four segments of psychotherapeutic interactions were observed), the conclusions are based in a detailed group of data that complement theories, investigations and practices, putting into evidence the importance of the therapist's instruction and ability about how to better act during psychotherapy sessions. The results of this study confirm and highlight the findings that have already been done in children's clinical psychology, for example that the quality of the therapeutic alliance established between child and therapist will influence the child's collaboration on the therapeutic tasks and in the coming psychotherapy success. The present study is concluded by identifying other pertinent questions that can be researched.
