O presente projeto de investigação de âmbito teórico consiste em um mapeamento
do conceito de Design Social no âmbito do Design de Comunicação,
para gizar a sua genealogia e relacionar com as teorias e práticas
diretamente implicadas em seus diversos contextos de circulação (social,
ambiental e político). Este enfoque permite historiar vários perfis de design
socialmente comprometidos, entre os quais ocorrem design crítico, design
ativista, design radical, design orientado a necessidades sociais, entre outros,
pelo que importa identificar as notas, ou características, que podem,
também, coincidir com o conceito de design social em Design de Comunicação.
Importará observar se o compromisso social é comum aos conceitos
enunciados e quais são os territórios disciplinares que também assumem o
homem e as sociedades como o seu objeto de estudo e de aplicação. Estes
aspectos podem dificultar a percepção e a demarcação de fronteiras entre
Design de Comunicação e outras áreas disciplinares, mas essa clarificação
é necessária para esclarecer constrangimentos, possibilidades, oportunidades,
limites e lacunas específicas em Design de Comunicação com
enfoque em Design Social. Dada a natureza teórica desta investigação, a
metodologia utilizada percorre as fases exploratória, generativa e avaliativa,
com particular incidência na primeira. Assim, os objetivos do nosso
estudo suscitam a utilização de uma metodologia não intervencionista,
da qual fazem parte a revisão de literatura, as pesquisas exploratórias, a
observação direta e a análise crítica de situações exemplares. O principal
contributo é sistematizar e refletir o conhecimento que se encontra disperso,
disponibilizando-o aos designers que pretendem desenvolver projetos
no âmbito de Design Social em Design de Comunicação.
ABSTRACT: This present theoretical research project consists of a mapping of the concept of Social Design within the scope of Communication Design, to outline its genealogy, and relate it to the theories and practices directly involved in its various contexts (social, environmental and political circulation). This approach makes it possible to list several socially committed design profiles, among which are critical design, activist design, radical design, design oriented to social needs, among others, so it is important to identify the notes, or characteristics, which can also coincide with the concept of social design in Communication Design. It will be important to observe whether social commitment is common to the enunciated concepts and what are the disciplinary territories that also assume man and societies as their object of study and application. These aspects can hinder the perception and the demarcation of borders between Communication Design and other disciplinary areas, but this clarification is necessary to elucidate constraints, possibilities, opportunities, limits, and specific gaps of Communication Design with a focus on Social Design. Given the theoretical nature of this investigation, the methodology used goes through the exploratory, generative and evaluative phases, with particular emphasis on the first. Thus, the objectives of our study require the use of a non-interventionist methodology, which includes literature review, exploratory research, direct observation and critical analysis of exemplary situations. The main contribution is to systematize and reflect the knowledge that is dispersed, making it available to designers who wish to develop projects within the scope of Social Design in Communication Design.
