A primeira metade do século XVIII português foi marcada por uma vasta produção de escritos preocupados com a educação e a correção da sociedade. Aventuras de Diófanes ou Máximas da virtude e formosura, publicado em 1752 vem para complementar esse grande corpo documental responsável por revelar as aspirações e expectativas de construção de uma nova sociedade. Assim, tem-se como objetivo apreender por meio de suas ideias não somente a mentalidade do setecentos de Portugal, como também as perspectivas e opiniões de um ponto de vista feminino, não no que tange ao seu sexo biológico, mas a partir de como a autora se relaciona e percebe o espaço público. Para isto, analisar-se-ão temas como política, economia, hábitos sociais, educação e relações de género a fim de denunciar os vícios portugueses e sugerir novos comportamentos e diretrizes a serem seguidos à luz dos ideais modernos.
The Portuguese first half of the XVIIIth Century was known by the large production of educational and societies’ behaviour texts. Aventuras de Diófanes ou Máximas da virtude e formosura, published in 1752, is an exemple of these documental corpus responsable for create and build its new aspirations and expectations well difused around the alphabetized groups. From this start, the principal aim is to understand Portugal’s mentality from a woman’s point of view and how it manifests itself in the public sphere. To that end, it will be analysed themes such as politics, economy, education, customs and gender relationships. Hence, it will be possible to point out the main Portugueses vices and to notice the solutions that the author suggests according to the modern ideais.
