A literatura salienta a
Sá, 2017) e, o Questionário de Capacidades e de Dificuldades (SDQ, Goodman, 1997;
Maladaptative Early Schemes correspond to cognitive and emotional patterns that develop at an early stage of the individual's development (childhood and / or adolescence) and that are repeated throughout life. The literature highlights the existence of an association between Early Maladaptative Schemes and the development of psychopathology in adolescence. Considering adolescence as a period associated with various changes and transformations that occur in the various domains (physical, social or cognitive), this is a vulnerable phase for the development of difficulties in emotional regulation. The present investigation intends to explore the association between the presence of Early Maladaptative Schemes and the Difficulties of emotional regulation, in adolescence, with the development of psychopathology. This way, it was applied to a sample of Portuguese adolescents (10-17 years old, N = 185) , the Inventory of Schemes for Children (IEC, Rijkeboer & de Boo, 2010 - Schema Inventory for Children; Portuguese version of Teixeira, 2010), the Emotional Regulation Difficulties Scale (DERS; Gratz & Roemer, 2004; Portuguese version of Fernandes, Pinheiro and Sá, 2017), and the Skills and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ, Goodman, 1997; Portuguese version of Fleitlich, Loureiro, Fonseca and Gaspar, 2004). The results show that the factorial structure found is shown to be representative and adequate of Early Maladaptative Schemes in Portuguese adolescents. The results suggest significant correlations between EPM and Emotional regulation difficulties. In addition, they show that some of the Emotional Regulation Difficulties predict the development of internalizing and externalizing problems and pro-social behavior, in adolescence. The results are discussed regarding their implications for clinical interventions.
