A villa romana da Quinta do Lago, em Almansil (Loulé, Portugal), é sobretudo conhecida pela unidade de produção de preparados piscícolas datada dos séculos III e IV, bem como pelas ânforas fabricadas localmente, que se destinavam ao envasamento desses preparados. Porém, a ocupação daquele espaço iniciou-se numa fase relativamente precoce do Alto Império, no século I, como ficou comprovado pelos materiais recolhidos durante os trabalhos de campo, entre os quais se contam as ânforas importadas. Estas últimas, com origens diversificadas (Itália, Bética costeira e Guadalquivir, Norte de África, Gália e Lusitânia), cobrem a totalidade da cronologia da ocupação (séculos I a IV), transportando para o sítio distintos produtos alimentares (vinho, azeite e preparados de peixe).
The Roman villa of Quinta do Lago, in Almansil (Loulé, Portugal), is mainly known through the unit of salted fish products, dating from the III and IV centuries, as well as the local amphorae, destined to the bottling of these products. However, the occupation of the space began at a relatively early stage of the Early Empire, in the first century AD, as evidenced by the materials collected during fieldwork, among which are imported amphorae. These amphorae, with diverse origins (Italy, Coastal Baetica and Guadalquivir valley, North Africa, Gaul and Lusitania), cover the whole chronology of the occupation (1st to 4th centuries), had transported different food products (wine, olive oil and fish).
